Farmers continue to march towards Delhi. Farmers have been continuously marching towards Delhi for several days with their demands. A large number of farmers are present on the borders of the states adjoining Delhi and are putting forward their demands. Farmers are busy protesting for other demands including making a law regarding guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are continuously marching towards Delhi. However, Delhi Police is risking its lives to not allow them to enter the capital.
Section 144 is also applicable in the country’s capital Delhi. The police is trying to prevent farmers from entering the capital under any circumstances. The police is alert to not allow farmers to enter Delhi with tractors, buses, trucks and other vehicles. Paramilitary forces are deployed on the borders of other states adjoining the capital. Drones are being used by the police.
According to various reports, about 1 thousand policemen have been deployed at the borders of the capital Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, including Ghazipur, Chilla, Apsara and Bhopura. Barricades have been installed on all the borders. However, only one lane has been opened for vehicles. At the same time, a large number of police forces are deployed on the Singhu border also. Barricades have been installed on the road. The number of police and paramilitary forces has been increased at Auchandi, Lampur and Sabauli borders. Whereas reports suggest that the police is keeping a close watch on the Tikri border. According to the information, a large number of farmers are present on the borders of Haryana connected to Delhi.
These are the demands
- Demand for law on minimum support price
- The demands which the Central Government had given assurance of fulfilling during the Delhi Morcha, should be fulfilled immediately.
- The case against any farmer in the year 2021-22 should be cancelled.
- Demand for compensation to the families of the farmers who died in the previous movement.
- Job to a family member of the farmer who died in the previous movement.
- Government and non-government loans should be waived off.
- Pension of Rs 10 thousand to farmers above 60 years of age.
- Import duty on agricultural goods, milk products, fruits, vegetables and meat should be reduced.
- The recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission should be implemented.
- Apart from these, amendments in the Pesticide, Seed and Fertilizer Act are many demands of the farmers.
